I still remember the year my grandpa passed in Ibadan. That was the first time he called all his children home and asked that every grandchild must be there a day before Ileya. No excuses. Everyone came. The old house was full again, laughter, noise, memories, and the kind of togetherness you don’t realize is rare until much later. Then the unexpected happened. A day before Ileya, Grandpa suddenly fainted. Panic filled the house. Tears everywhere. Fear in every voice. But after a while, he woke up and calmly said he was fine. What I can never forget wasn’t just that moment, it was his face. His skin had a glow. His smile was different. He looked peaceful, radiant, happier than I had ever seen him in my life. It was almost unreal. The next day, on Ileya, he passed away. And till today, I believe he knew exactly what he was doing when he called us all home.
