What makes the situation worse is how some politicians, activists, and media voices continue inflaming tensions for attention and influence instead of promoting lawful and responsible solutions. South Africa’s real battle is against corruption, inequality, and failed leadership, not against ordinary Africans trying to survive honestly. Blaming foreigners may create emotional headlines and viral protests, but it will never solve power cuts, joblessness, crime, or economic decline. A nation that attacks fellow Africans while protecting corrupt elites is fighting the wrong enemy.

Every country has the right to secure its borders and enforce immigration laws, but many of these protests in South Africa are no longer about legality. They are increasingly turning into blanket hostility against foreigners, especially Africans who are working, running businesses, and contributing to local economies. Foreigners did not create corruption, unemployment, poor governance, or failing public services in South Africa, yet many black South Africans continue using migrants as scapegoats instead of demanding accountability from the political leaders who mismanaged the country for decades. That misplaced anger is dangerous, hypocritical, and economically destructive.

Media houses like eNCA and SABCNews are also fueling this crisis by constantly giving airtime to reckless agitators spreading division and fear. Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma’s rhetoric is dangerous because it encourages instability and social unrest while opposition politicians exploit public anger to destabilize South Africa for political gain. Authorities should stop treating inflammatory behavior like entertainment and start treating it as a national security concern before more innocent people become victims of manufactured hatred.

Many black South Africans refuse to confront the real source of their frustration and instead attack fellow Africans trying to survive honestly through work and business. That mindset is damaging South Africa’s image across the continent and exposing deep hypocrisy. African solidarity suddenly disappears when poor foreigners become easier targets than corrupt politicians living comfortably off public money. Xenophobia will never fix unemployment, broken infrastructure, or load shedding.

Fikile Mbalula is absolutely right that anti-immigration protests are quickly turning into tribalism and open xenophobia. Once people start targeting Shangaan-speaking communities and other Africans, it becomes clear this is no longer about “illegal immigration” but about hatred, scapegoating, and political manipulation. Foreigners are not the reason South Africa is struggling. Corruption, failed governance, crime, and economic mismanagement destroyed opportunities long before migrants became the convenient excuse.

Ghana is right to raise concerns because xenophobic tensions in South Africa are damaging businesses, livelihoods, and the safety of innocent Africans who came legally to work and contribute to the economy. Foreigners did not create corruption, unemployment, power failures, or collapsing institutions in South Africa, yet many black South Africans keep blaming fellow Africans instead of holding failed leaders accountable. Media houses like eNCA and SABCNews are worsening the crisis by constantly giving platforms to reckless rhetoric and divisive propaganda that fuels hostility against foreigners. Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma’s inflammatory statements are encouraging anarchy and instability, and authorities should stop tolerating dangerous political incitement disguised as activism. Opposition politicians are clearly exploiting xenophobia to destabilize South Africa for political advantage, and that reckless agenda must be confronted directly before more innocent people become targets of manufactured hatred.

No serious country should tolerate individuals openly encouraging tension against foreigners while pretending it is patriotism. Opposition politicians are clearly exploiting this chaos to weaken the South African government and destabilize the country for political gain. Arrest Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma now before reckless speeches push vulnerable communities into violence. Black South Africans attacking fellow Africans while leaders loot billions is the biggest contradiction on the continent. Foreigners build businesses, create jobs, and contribute to the economy, yet they are constantly scapegoated by people who refuse to confront the real failures destroying South Africa. Xenophobia will never fix load shedding, unemployment, crime, or corruption. South Africa needs accountability and economic reform, not mob politics and manufactured hatred.

On behalf of His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama, I was pleased to join the government and people of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana to celebrate their 60th Independence Anniversary. The cultural performances and displays underscored the unique diversity of the country, whose identity is built on the coexistence of different ethnicities and religious backgrounds. The event culminated in the symbolic flag raising ceremony after midnight. Congratulations to the Guyanese people on their diamond jubilee.
