Last: those batteries life depends on number of cycles mostly. heat helps it but disconnecting and using on battery and charging later degrades it much more.

@TheVisionEx @messeduppcs 😀no I only say that if you claim that it would be better to keep those mosty plugged in laptop about 80% that would be a valid point. but your comparing and saying that you should always be on battery or buy desktop is stupid for many many reasons. Last not least practical also.

@TheVisionEx @messeduppcs and again don't take it somewhere else: no, you should not use your laptot only on battery. it degrades your battery faster because of life cycles and your laptop runs slower.

@kbjzz @messeduppcs OK, so you're saying that if I use a PC plugged in all day long (as this user clearly had), they should stop and make sure that they unplug their computer and only charge it to 80% regularly every day, instead of just use a desktop? Get real. Think about their usage.

@TheVisionEx @messeduppcs yes, ydk. you should Google it. nobody argues that batts degrades by usage. but they are bypassed when plugged. if you point out that would be better if they would be kept around 70-80% okay we can discuss but saying that people should buy desktop because of that or put batt out?

@kbjzz @messeduppcs IDK man, google it. I worked with these technologies for decades and the fundamentals of the battery have not changed. Silicon batteries changed the fundamentals, but what's inside your laptop isn't fixed by a capacitor in your charger getting loaded. Calendar Aging is real.

@kbjzz @messeduppcs So what you're saying is: If the Protective circuit fails, your battery degrades just like they always have, and you should have purchased a desktop for this type of usage Just buy a desktop if you want to be plugged in all the time. Buy a laptop separately if you want to unplug

@TheVisionEx @messeduppcs it's totally wrong and stupid to hear in 2026. modern lithium batteries would be dead in few months without protective circuits managing charging and bypassing battery while working plugged in. as a matter of fact you're whole laptop runs different battery vs. plugged in.

@GuessWhoDE @messeduppcs What you're describing is a compute function, not possible from the battery itself. The battery will still degrade at an accelerated rate if you leave the laptop plugged in all the time.

@TheVisionEx @messeduppcs Modern Laptop manage the pluged-usage well. The modern batteries are better - but especially the charging-controller takes care not to charge the batterie all the time... and even only starts charging below 80%, when it learns you use the device mainly plugged in.
