Binet's formula ✍️
This formula is a mathematical tool that lets you jump directly to any position in the Fibonacci sequence without having to add up all the previous numbers. Normally, the sequence is built by adding the two preceding terms together. However, this formula uncovers a hidden connection between whole numbers and the Golden Ratio, a constant found in nature and art. By raising the Golden Ratio to a specific power and applying a small correction to remove any decimals, the formula results in a perfect whole number. It is famously surprising because it uses complex, endless square roots to calculate simple integers. This demonstrates that the growth of the Fibonacci sequence is closely linked to the geometry of the Golden Ratio.
