Voting is open for the SGA presidential candidates at 8am on Tuesday the 25th! Take time to educate yourself on both parties! Make sure to follow the Volante on all platforms for updates!

That’s a wrap on the 2025 SGA debate, tune in to @TheVolante @USDCoyoteNews and @CoyoteRadio911 for further updates in this years election.

Both teams emphasized their desire to build trust and continue strengthening relations between the Student Government Association and students to further their understanding of student issues.

Mohamed Mohamed and Tewobistya Birhanu wish to collaborate with Sodexo and the Sustainability Club to further promote sustainable efforts on USD’s campus.

Keegan Baker and Ellie Hart emphasized that they would like to work alongside administrators to ensure students success.

Both teams are in agreement that their goals if elected would be achievable, “through commitment, communication, and hard work.”

Mohamed Mohamed and Tewobistya Birhanu proposed addressing food and housing insecurity both on-campus and within the Vermillion community if elected.

Keegan Baker and Ellie Hart proposed creating a monthly joint meeting between SGA and the Vermillion City Council if elected.

Both teams are in agreement that it is necessary to them to connect with students in order to assess their concerns and represent them accurately while serving with SGA.
