Things to remember before buying a hideously expensive bunch of gardenias:
They are fragile, turning brown quickly when touched.
They have a short vase life, so are not ideal for long-lasting arrangements.
The fragrance is very strong and can be overwhelming in small spaces.

@MrBenSellers I wonder if that isn't a bit of Welsh romancing - public libraries in those days (if you were lucky) issued you with four tickets - two fiction, two non-fiction. You'd have to have pretty puny arms to fill them with just four volumes.

That certainly is true; the difficulty at Poundbury has not been the buildings but their management. The Duchy of Cornwall, certainly with regard to Poundbury, treats residents with lofty disdain. There's no place for that in 21st century Britain

NEW: In York, the City Council has removed Sarah Ferguson from holding the Freedom of the City.
She and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor were given it in 1987, when they were Duke and Duchess of York.
Andrew’s was removed in 2022. Sara’s was taken away tonight.

Keir Starmer says it's “far-fetched” to suggest the theft of Morgan McSweeney's mobile is connected to release of documents relating to Mandelson’s appointment as US ambo. “Unfortunately, there are thefts like this. It was stolen. It was reported at the time, the police have acknowledged and confirmed that. That is what happened. “The idea that somehow everybody could have seen that sometime in the future there’d be a request over the phone is, to my mind, a little bit far-fetched.”
