No family is perfect. 🤞🏾
Yho, stop looking at family pictures on Facebook thinking, "Hayi, laba baphila soft." 🤣 My sister, my brother... that's just the trailer. The full movie is showing inside the house.
Some families are fighting over the family home. Some over inheritance. Some over money. Some over who loved Gogo more. Some because one sibling made it in life. Some because alcohol turned a father into a stranger. Some because of emotional or physical abuse. Some lost they parents at a young age and auntie mistreated that child and reminds you that am doing you a favour by looking after you.
Then Gogo passes away... 💔
The very people who were crying together at the funeral are now pointing fingers, counting spoons, measuring walls and asking, "Ubani ozothatha le ndlu?"
That's why people always say, "When Gogo died, the family fell apart." Because she wasn't just making tea... she was holding everyone's madness together.
Some of you are closer to the neighbour than your own blood. Some strangers have become the family you've been praying for.
Some are going through having a toxic Mother. Toxic father. Toxic sibling . Even a toxic child.
You can live in a mansion with electric gates, German cars and matching Christmas pyjamas... but inside that house? Nobody is talking to Umama. Your sister blocked you. Your child doesn't even know their cousins. Everyone eats in silence like tenants. 😩
Not everything is a generational curse. Sometimes it's plain jealousy. Jealousy doesn't need sangoma muthi... Jealousy itself is muthi. It poisons hearts, destroys families and makes people celebrate your downfall instead of your success.
Nana... trust me when I say no family is perfect.
We all have our own season of Uzalo, Isitha, Adulting and Skeem Saam combined. 🤣 The only difference is some families know how to hide the cameras.
Pray for your family. Set boundaries where you must. Forgive where you can. Walk away where you have to.
Because not every battle is worth losing your peace over.
And remember... Being related by blood doesn't always mean you'll be treated with love.
Sometimes the people who protect your peace are the ones who don't share your surname. ❤️
