Great tribute for @NZStuff (in which I'm quoted) by @OcCaldwell to a wonderful man who has been a treasured person in my life since childhood. A Wellington icon! Mr. Patel is dearly missed.

@OcCaldwell Hi, I don't know you (+ I haven't tweeted in like 2 years) but I thought you might want to know if you didn't, that Mr. Patel apparently sadly passed away Monday last week (16th) 😢💔I only just found out today myself, was looking to see if anyone had posted about him.

Wellingtonians you know this face. Jiten Patel, Oriental Bay store owner. I left Welly six months ago & today, out of the blue, he called just to see how I was going. It seems a small gesture. It was. But people like Jiten rub off on us, they have an impact. And I love it 💕
