Runs gained from ABS challenges. Tigers are killing it with the ABS challenges, especially defensively, which makes sense because Dillon Dingler has been one of the best ABS catchers in all of baseball. Some telling data here, White Sox are AWFUL defensively, which checks out considering their interest in a catcher this deadline. Royals offensively are the opposite, killing it at 36.2 runs. Diamondbacks and Reds look like the best overall ABS teams, in the positive double digits for both offense and defense.

On the YES broadcast, Joe Girardi suggests teams should have the option to carry 14 pitchers (and only 12 position players) when they are scheduled to play seven or more games in a row. Sounds all right to me.

With reports that Tarik Skubal could be traded, I looked back at 10 deadline deals involving high-end SPs to see if it's historically worth it. Overall, not really. Ironically, the Tigers have been on both sides: +13.6 WAR (David Price) and nearly -20 WAR (Justin Verlander).

Nationals, Padres, Marlins and Twins are all rumored to be sellers and they're all within 2 games of the playoffs. Tigers are only 3.5 back too. It REALLY just comes down to whether or not these teams look at their rosters and think yes, we have a real shot in October. This might end up being a nothing-burger deadline but it is one of the more fascinating ones in recent memory.

You guys know I’m not the biggest Boone guy but the #Yankees are 11-4 in their last 15 games. No Judge, no Stanton, no Bellinger, no Rodon. Max Fried rehabbing at the MLB level. Somehow with smoke and mirrors they’re just two games out of first place and remain the second best team in the American League and the top Wild Card by five games. As much as we want to blame him for the Boone Swoon he deserves at least some of the credit for keeping this thing together. Fair is fair.

Feel like these types of games are a fun litmus test to how people look at their sports teams + life in general. 3 of these are directly positive, and would have a substantial impact on the strength of the Yankees, and one is indirectly positive with zero impact on their strength. Who cares if the Rays only win 85 games that doesn't even mean the Yankees have more wins and even if it does it certainly doesn't mean the Yankees are strong enough to win it all, which is ultimately what you're aiming for. There's a scenario I've argued about with people about whether or not you'd take back to back championships but ur biggest rival wins 3 in the proceeding 5 years. I think its a no brainer.
