New post - Climate change and beekeeping How will climate change impact bees and beekeeping? Flooded apiaries and poor queen mating might be the least of our problems. Don't think it won't happen ... it already is. theapiarist.org/climate-change…

A damning indictment of the UK honey industry ... >95% of honey sold by retailers and supermarkets in the UK was 'suspicious'. Honey tested from beekeepers was genuine. The testing used DNA metagenomic analysis to detect syrup-adulterated honey, simila... musings.theapiarist.org/2024/11/10/a-d…

Polycarbonate crown boards can be useful when there is a temptation to sneak a peak at what bees are doing in winter. They can give reassurance without resorting to opening a colony.

Old post (I forgot to announce it ...) How can the waggle dance be used to infer important details - like forage or nest site availability - about the environment our bees occupy? theapiarist.org/dancing-girls/ ... and a new post for sponsors on feeding pollen 😀

New post Drones 'smell' different to workers. Analysis of these odours suggest ways in which the 'scent of a man' could contribute to drone eviction in the autumn, and the establishment of drone congregation areas for queen mating. theapiarist.org/scent-of-a-man/

@britishbee No need for a water spray this Spring and Summer 😉. I did more inspections in the rain than any season I remember.
