Lets look how our 🇿🇼 most recent Test squad vs 🇦🇫 back in October 2025, averaged in the now completed 25/26 Logan Cup. Bennett - 1 inn - 36.00 Curran - 6 inns - 40.50 Welch - 15 inns - 26.40 Taylor - DNB Ervine - 13 inns - 54.44 Raza - DNB Tsiga - 9 inns - 80.43 Evans - 3 inns - 19.00 With limited Tests in 2026, there are multiple slots open for the Test side, if merit criteria is applied. With Ervine being 40 and Taylor, unfit and yet to convince anyone he is even remotely the same player of 5 years ago, 🇿🇼 have decisions to make. There are multiple players averaging over 40 this season in many differing batting positions that are pushing. Regardless of Welch's recent Test performances, his poor LC cannot be, and should not be ignored. A high performance culture is achieved by consequences in all 🏏 relevant to the format. This includes not playing, like the Raza scenario. Inno, Jono and Panashe have all performed superbly this season in tough overall batting conditions. Inno, who has played only 2 tests before being dropped, averages over 43 and could bat at 3. Averages over 33 in FC. Jono, played a single test 🇮🇪 in Feb 2026, averaging 18.5. Jono also averages over 33 in FC. Panashe, the 20yo who continues to improve his average every season finished with 44.44 this LC and has a career FC ave of 38.60. 🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼

@The_Bans There are definitely reasons why most of these games are played in Harare. If you think it's only ZC that participates in deciding where these matches are played then surely you're mistaken. For India or Aussie to tour Zim, they request certain conditions to be met.

There is no logical reason for giving all the matches to Harare!

Kaia - 8 inns - 51.13 J. Campbell - 10 inns - 49.11 Taravinga - 10 inns - 44.44 Musakanda - 10 inns - 39.80 Kamunhukamwe - 15 inns - 39.79 M. Campbell - 10 inns - 38.20 R. Kaia - 10 inns - 36.10 Naqvi - 8 inns - 35.00 Madhevere - 10 inns - 34.30 Mupfudza - 13 inns - 33.82 Maunze - 10 inns - 33.44 Some excellent performances in here that show we do have decent 🇿🇼 batting stocks. Notable ommissions who each had very poor 🇿🇼 campaigns are Nick Welch, Tanu Makoni and Alistair Frost. Domestic averages give you an idea of the season long quality. The median to follow later on will remove outlier scores, high and low that potentially skew the average when the sample size is small. 🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼

ZC needs to understand that for the talent pool to widen, they have to take the game across the country. You can't gatekeep something and expect it to grow and for new people to take interest. And if the game improves, the money will follow.
