Back on the #StevieRayVaughan train today...picking up with the '86 show in Germany that I left off on yesterday. Sure, it's a little messy, but there are flashes of SRV brilliance in there, despite being (likely) drowned in whiskey

@cynumber9 I just put on an '86 show. Ain't Gone 'n Give Up On Love is 21 minutes long. 6 minutes to get to the first vocals. It's not even that Stevie's playing is bad. It's just that it feels like he forgot he's supposed to be singing...for an uncomfortably long amount of time

If you listen to it objectively, it's true what they say: #StevieRayVaughan's '85-'86 shows sometimes border on painful. You can hear that he's almost constantly playing himself in circles. Quite the contrast to sober SRV from '89-'90...

@cynumber9 I've heard and read about similar instances. '86 shows are the most painful to listen to...you can tell he's an absolute mess.
