And then half the time discussion about actual gameplay just goes down to "y is thing in this game not like the other game" without any regard to the fact that the game isn't designed to do the other thing for a reason and both approaches to the mechanic works fine

What sets video games apart is the fact that we play and interact with them.
When that gameplay is bad, especially in a franchise that prioritizes gameplay, then there's not much the other aspects can do to make up for that for the majority of people.

Personally I think tweets like this are arrogant and don't paint the full picture. Both sonic fans and Nintendo fans were mean spirited and arrogant as fuck. Their are still people who for some reason think crossworlds reviewed poorly.

that SRCW vs. MKW shit from last year is still crazy asf to look back on, Sonic fans immediately threw their hands up in defeat after that direct and acted as if their own game didn't stand a chance😭 i'm happy about how things turned out for CW, but man, what a miserable time
