@The_Footmodel@Dp3r6y@cahenry37@PIayoffOlave@JayDanielsMVP Buddy, the style of defense the commanders are gonna run is gonn rely on the front 7 and heavy blitz packages. You dont need an elite secondary when you get a lot of pressure and make the qb nervous. The secondary is not as bad as some of yall make it out to be.
@Dp3r6y@ThatDCsportsGuy@cahenry37@PIayoffOlave@JayDanielsMVP Man. The Sonny Styles fans are the same idiots who fought with me when I said was saying Terry did not deserve 33M a year. So many dumb fans in our fanbase that think we needed a lb more than help in our brutal secondary.
Short of being decimated with injuries, Commanders defense has no excuse for not being at minimum a top 10 defense. Entire unit has been completely rebuilt. Idk what the plan is at CB2 whether it’s Robertson or Sainristil. We’ll see about that
@cahenry37@PIayoffOlave@JayDanielsMVP Make it simple on yourselves. Ask Grok in this very app whether he was considered a top 5 prospect before the combine.
@cahenry37@JayDanielsMVP Stop it. He was not. Maybe top 15. You are kidding yourself if you think before the combine that many thought he was too 5 prospect. I wish we could have drafted someone else. Hopefully it works out. Don't get me started on AP not drafting anyone in the secondary.
@The_Footmodel@JayDanielsMVP He was considered a top 5 prospect majority of the draft process. Ppl just stopped worrying about positional value and focused more on who the actual best players were. His combine helped but the lack of value at certain positions helped him more
@The_Footmodel@JayDanielsMVP Sonny was already a projected top 10 pick well before the combine 😂 after the combine he just started getting top 5 projections but he was always considered a top 10 pick.
@cmannsc@2stix2play@john_keim If Witherspoon is playing meaningful snaps were beyond screwed. I don't think any of our CBs or Safetys have proven themselves to be good players besides Cross. Have Amos and Sainristil shown some spurts of good play? Sure, but they have also been inconsistent in my eyes
@The_Footmodel@john_keim They addressed it I the offseason. They brought in the Corners Robertson and Harris. And they brought in S Nick Cross. What are you talking about?
@hogfather3621@john_keim I am really impressed with the front seven. Can't wait to see them in action and you might be right. I just feel we should have taken a CB. Something tells me they sign Trevon Diggs eventually.
@The_Footmodel@john_keim We could use another S and CB for sure but its not as bad as you are all making it out to be it'll help adding edge rushers that can actually get pressure and linebackers capable of helping cover. And Sainristil back on the outside with amos.
You can see how Athan Kaliakmanis could win a room over in a job interview. Sounds like a high energy guy who’s happy to be in an NFL building.
From his media Q&A moments after the Commanders drafted him in the 7th round.
@JPFinlayNBCS I don't know how AP looks at our secondary and doesn't add anything to it. The weakest link on the team. He's certainly done alot of good, but this might be his downfall
I’m confused by people hating on the Antonio Williams pick JUST because he isn’t a Terry McLaurin successor. That’s not why you draft a WR this year. They needed a weapon who fits the scheme who will demand a ton of targets. That’s Antonio Williams. The 2027 draft is loaded with WR1 prospects.
@GrantPaulsen Definitely CB and S. Assuming we get Aiyuk, the only part of the team that worries me is the Secondary. I was hoping to see a Daroj Payne trade. Our front 7 looks so deep I can't see how we need to overpay him.
Taking a stab at the Commanders' WR depth chart come Week 1:
WR1: Terry McLaurin
WR2: Brandon Aiyuk
SWR: Antonio Williams
Depth: Treylon Burks, Dyami Brown, Luke McCaffrey (kick returner), Jaylin Lane (punt returner).
That's 7 WRs. Teams typically don't keep more than 6.
