Hi, to meet the standards, we require all registrants to practise safely, lawfully and effectively within their scope of practice. 'Scope of practice' consists of both a registrant’s individual scope of practice and that of their profession; we require registrants to use their professional judgement to determine it based on the needs of their service users. For information please see: hcpc-uk.org/standards/meet… The HCPC is one part of a broader service user safety picture. The registrant, the regulators, employing organisations (where appropriate) and professional bodies all play a proactive role in ensuring safe and effective practice working within a legal framework. If a registrant is not meeting the standards, a concern can be raised about them. Our DMs are open if you'd like to discuss this further. Thanks.

Whether you’re ‘patient-facing’ or not, your actions as a healthcare professional can deeply affect others. These prompts can be used to check in on someone’s psychological safety and whether you can help. They're from Dabbi Taylor, registered occupational therapist, HCPC Council Apprentice and guest speaker at our webinar ‘EDI and your practice’. ⬇️ Please contribute ⬇️ 👉 How do you prompt yourself to consider EDI? 👉 Have you improved psychological safety for your patients, service users or colleagues? 💬 What’s one piece of advice you'd give to a colleague wanting to advance in their level of practice? We brought professional bodies together this #CPDWeek to talk about advanced levels of practice. The important point we emphasise is that the HCPC standards apply to all registrants across all levels. More support and clarity around the levels can help registrants in many ways - like planning their next career move and choosing CPD activities accordingly. We're working to expand our support in this area. Join the conversation ⬇️ ⬇️ 💬 We’d love to hear from you: 👉 Registrants – what’s one piece of advice you'd give to a colleague wanting to advance in their level of practice? 👉 Professional bodies – share your CPD offering around advanced levels of practice! #CPDWeek2026 #CPD #AdvancedPractice #AdvancedLevelsofPractice

As part of #CPDWeek2026, we are sharing real experiences from HCPC registrants who have been selected for CPD Audit. For many, it is a concern, but for those who have been through it, the experience is often very different from what they expected. One registrant shared: “The audit process was not as complex as I thought it was going to be. If you have your CPD organised over the two years before, it actually makes the process much easier.” Keeping your CPD up to date and recording your learning as you go can make a real difference. If you are doing this, you are already on the right track 👇 youtu.be/69UHYUnv7yk?si…

As part of #CPDWeek2026, we are raising awareness of the impact of sexual misconduct and highlighting our work to improve sexual safety. Our sexual safety hub brings together both new and existing resources to support registrants in reflecting and learning. It provides clear guidance on professional boundaries, expected standards and where to seek help and support. Reflective practice is central to CPD. Taking time to reflect on maintaining appropriate boundaries and behaviours strengthens safe and effective practice. View our explainer on what sexual safety means in a professional context and explore the full range of resources on our dedicated hub: hcpc-uk.org/sexual-safety

🤔 So what do we mean by CPD? It's basically how you keep your skills sharp and your knowledge current: 'continuing professional development'. It's an essential part of safe and effective practice. It could be training, discussing, reading, reflecting, having a learning under supervision - any activity that you learn and develop from. It needs to be regular, outcome focused and self-directed. It needs to benefit your service users and your practice. Aside from that, it can be anything!  👉 Browse our support: hcpc-uk.org/cpd/cpd-resour…

@The_HCPC I focused on a piece regarding a service user experience and discussed within a peer review. This in turn enabled a shift in our Practice to provide the best social work possible from our knowledge of this learning.
