Comparing the issues in USA baseball to USA basketball isn’t apples to oranges, but there are some distinct differences. Baseball has never been as accessible as basketball for a number of reasons, but MLB’s commitment to Latin American countries has changed their focus in other areas.
There has been a diversity issue in baseball as it pertains to African Americans for the last 20 years, if not more. Part of it is the culture has changed (NFL and NBA gaining popularity), but MLB and those in power haven’t done enough to make sure inner city kids not only get to play, but get to connect with other players that look like them.
It’s a fairly different issue from basketball. All kids are playing basketball, they just aren’t getting the same level of training, all kids aren’t playing baseball to begin with.

The Giants optioned Bryce Eldridge back to Triple-A, along with Grant McCray and Tyler Fitzgerald. Eldridge will get more time to develop, and can now play first base every day.

I don’t know if this is about why Barry Bonds would join or why the media would want him, but:
1. Obviously the media now is completely different than decades ago
2. Probably some overblown narrative out there
3. Easy way to stick it to the media by taking a great job
4. Money

Why do players who had combative, adversarial, toxic relationships with media then join the media?

I don’t think T Mac means NBA talent as far as role players, it’s a matter of enough high-level talent so teams actually have a chance at deep playoff runs.
It could easily turn into 20 organizations simply happy to make the playoffs (it might already be like that).

@The_StilesFiles It's not easy to field enough kids to play unorganized baseball. Pretty easy to play one on one basketball, though.

@The_StilesFiles Connected to your point about opportunities for inner-city kids, to play organized baseball can cost families a significant portion of money. Many kids can find an outdoor court to shoot hoops or work out in their school's gym.

Love it or hate it, the Kings seem to be prioritizing culture building over draft lottery odds.
Maybe they’ll walk away with both, but it appears that they’re willing to simply add a top 10 player to majority of this group and keep it rolling.

The Acuff stuff is maybe has too much dip on its chip…but with that being said Acuff is bigger/more athletic than Trae and is 100x better shooter than Ja.
For the Kings both players have had more playoff success than they’ve had in 20 years so it should actually be a positive.

The Acuff discourse is fascinating. The critics warn of cautionary tales like Morant and Trae but don't address that neither Morant nor Trae are the offensive engines they were a few years ago. Morant got sapped by injuries, and Trae just never learned to play off-ball
