@ChrisPalmerMD At the cellular level, each of these disorders has functional dysregulation of key nutritional elements: especially B vitamins, vitamin D, minerals & protein. Replete these key nutrients in these patients & it will not only improve their symptoms, but reduce future dementia.

@jedishaman Most mental health disorders are associated with premature dementia. Thoughts about why this is true if they are distinct disorders?

I'm genuinely shocked that some mental health professionals still argue that Alzheimer’s disease is a “real” medical and neurological disorder, while schizophrenia is something entirely different—a so-called “mental” illness. This is stigma, plain and simple. Schizophrenia is also a medical and neurological condition—no less real, no less biological, and no less deserving of serious, science-based care.

Multiple lines of evidence for the root causes of bipolar disorder converge on metabolism and mitochondria.

#Bipolardisorder Multiple lines of evidence, from genetics to functional assays in iPSCs, converge on dysregulation of neurodevelopment, neuro-#inflammation, #mitochondria, and calcium homeostasis. Intriguingly, disruptions in #sleep & #circadian rhythms are strongly linked.

The value of hydrotherapy is underrated. Constitutional hydrotherapy is valuable in mental health treatments in naturopathic medicine. It involves carefully timed hot and cold water treatment with mild sine wave strategically placed to bring equilibrium to the nervous system.

Back in the old days, psychiatric patients were often placed into ice baths as a treatment. Many people have dismissed this practice as cruelty to patients. Maybe there was something to it after all.

As NDs we look at the body as a whole, we understand that the brain’s metabolism is essential to its ability to function optimally. Thank you, @ChrisPalmerMD for spotlighting the science behind it.

neural activity is 'entangled' with metabolism Many scientists have assumed that the production of energy is irrelevant to brain function. It just happens when needed. What if metabolism plays a more important role? frontiersin.org/articles/10.33…
