Creation of the ”inexpressible“ 🤔
David Kogan@davidkogan_

@PierceLilholt Intelligence has never lived solely in language. We utilize language to express ourselves and at times to think but much of thinking is preverbal and inexpressible. Language is great as a way to force intelligence to conform to reality but alone is not the substrate of thought.

Be careful with the idea that ‘everyone is replaceable.’ Some people are truly one of a kind. If you lose them, life won’t hand you another version—you don’t meet certain souls twice.

There's so much to do, see, learn, but there's very limited time. If time was no hindrance, what would you study/learn?

The brain is constantly balancing stability and flexibility. Consciousness is one of the main tools for that balance, preserving a coherent scene while still allowing revision when something new demands it.

What it comes down to is examining where you want to direct your cognitive bandwidth, for this is a finite resource. The former remunerates you to burn through the premium of your mind and energy - thus, if it is not aligned, you are left with a diminished capacity to explore uncharted territory and intrinsically motivated pursuits. You are selling your high-level cognition and vitality, and there is always an opportunity cost, however, as shareholder mentality is not required, there can be genuine downtime for some. The latter may be more aligned, however, while flexibility is present, there is no mental downtime, no "off" period - thus, it can become a devouring, compulsive engine that bleeds into every crevice, forming a self-perpetuating recursive loop for relentlessly driven, obsessive individuals if meaningful, deliberate pauses are not taken to observe the purpose behind their momentum and trajectory - to recalibrate perspective. Those who have been there know the taste of compounded burnout, stacked and layered - they know what it is like to push themselves beyond repeated stratified internal fracturing, reinforcing their iron-cored anterior cingulate cortex - the part of the disciplined mind that stays on task despite screaming internal friction, alarm, and discomfort. This can be both a hindrance, binding one to what is misaligned, and equally a saviour when applied to achieving otherwise unfathomable feats. Ultimately, it comes down to holistic alignment, seeing yourself as a precious resource and questioning the conscious allocation of your finite cognitive and energetic capital.
