Married, Gamecocks, Braves, STEM, guns, liberty, 3DP, homesteading. Communism and MMT are just economic flat earth theory: mock them.

@BearsCocks Like it wasn't even a poorly framed pitch or missed spot or anything that could mess up perspective. Right to the glove, down the middle...ball.

@ThenAlexSaid1 I saw this clip the other day but didn’t know it was a female blue. Somehow makes it 100x worse though

Gutter guards: expensive and have their own problems. Buffer: means nothing to the safety of the house if they're tall enough to provide shade. Species: doesn't matter if they're close enough to the house to provide shade. "Never consulted an arborist" AKA "I put my fingers in my ears and don't ask the tree experts for help, so as long as I don't hear them say I'm wrong, I can't be wrong".

gutter guards, buffer zone around structure, with trees surrounding property for shade and privacy, root damage is minimal in most tree species, with specific species being the main culprits. 20+ years of cutting down trees in PA privately and for Public works. never consulted an arborist ever.

Let me explain exactly why every new subdivision in America looks like the top photo, because the math is wild. A mature tree increases a home's value by 7 to 19 percent. On a $400,000 house, that's $28,000 to $76,000. A single shade tree produces the cooling equivalent of ten room-size air conditioners running 20 hours a day. One tree on the west side of a house cuts energy bills by 12 percent within 15 years. The bottom photo is worth more, costs less to live in, and sells faster. This has been documented by the University of Washington, Clemson, Michigan State, and the USDA. The data is not in dispute. Removing those trees saves the builder roughly $5,000 per lot. Concrete trucks need twice the dripline radius of every standing tree. Utility trenches need flat ground. A bulldozer flattens 200 lots in an afternoon. Preserving trees adds weeks and thousands per home. So the developer pockets $5,000 in savings and the buyer eats $50,000 in lost value for the next two decades. The person making the decision and the person paying for it have never been in the same room. The Woodlands, Texas is the proof of what happens when they are. George Mitchell bought 28,000 acres of Houston timberland in 1974 and preserved 28% as permanent green space. He forced McDonald's to build behind the tree canopy. That McDonald's became one of the highest-volume locations in Texas. The first office building, designed to reflect the surrounding forest so you couldn't see it from the street, leased completely. The Woodlands median home price today: $615,000. Katy, a comparable Houston suburb that clear-cut: $375,000. Named #1 community to live in America two years running. Fifty years of data. The trees are worth more than removing them saves. Developers clear-cut anyway because they sell the house once and leave. You live in it for 30 years.

@aakashgupta Trees around a house/next to it is a pain in the ass. 1 cleanup in the fall 2. Storms, always having to worry about it falling down or big branches breaking off. 3. Roots ruin a lot of things concrete, plumbing pipes. Top pic is better

The top picture won't destroy my house in a bad storm. The top picture doesn't have me cleaning gutters regularly. The top picture doesn't have roots destroying my foundation. The top picture doesn't require expensive arborists to take care of the trees to minimize any potential damage.

@aakashgupta the entirety of the west feels like this to me as someone that grew up under tree cover, in the dense forests of appalachia. The top feels soulless and liminal and it's an affront to God.

Hot take: I prefer the top pic. I will GLADLY pay a higher bill for more A/C if it means minimal gutter cleaning, no foundation threat, and never having to worry about a limb coming through my roof during a storm. Although, both pics suck because I don't want that close proximity to my neighbors. I want some damn space.

@QNT_WHALE @aakashgupta I will gladly pay a higher energy bill for A/C if it means minimal tree threat to my house. Sure, the bottom pic looks aesthetic and shady, but after experiencing Helene firsthand, all I see is a nightmare.

@JessicaTheGreen @BeksWineWhiskey I have a hypothesis that an exception to this is the insanely attractive people. Pro athletes, celebrities, etc. I would not be surprised at all if a disproportionate amount of them have open relationships since they have the pick of the litter.

@ThenAlexSaid1 @Juche_Gang Oh no, a white college athlete has to work for once in his life bc he did something stupid for his frat in a country that is 1000% justifiably tense around americans? I'd joke that you should call NATO but that wouldn't be a joke, it literally exists to shill for US atrocities.
