@ThingsSquishy @palomamcclain well the narcissistic crashout does sound plausible
English

@stuffybag @palomamcclain I am facing narcissistic collapse I AM NOT OKAY; several years ago i tried out for the NBA and got assigned to a national hockey team in Uzbekistan; I am not okay my mirror reflection is shattered I cannot list any patreons over 100k$ bleep bloop blarpgh graaaahghthththtblbububu
English

@ThingsSquishy @palomamcclain are you okay? you said you know non commercialized patreons that make good money and I asked you to show me some. what are you flipping out about ?
English

@stuffybag @palomamcclain No youre right, there are no accounts that exist that make 6 figures on patreon or gumroad or various sites because i cant list them, i concede that my entire economic model is wrong; please regard my previous comments as disinformation
English

@ThingsSquishy @palomamcclain or you can just show me what patreon accounts you are talking about
English

@stuffybag @palomamcclain You got me, i give up, there is no escaping the corporate world and there are no realistic ways to make money outside working. I appreciate your enlightenment and input, and I will apply to Dollar General right away based on my degree of education
English

@stuffybag @palomamcclain its not necessarily true, there are many key differences
English

@ThingsSquishy @palomamcclain yeah some people make that kind of money on patreon with a certain type material that is just as heavily commercialized as any corporate job
English

@stuffybag @palomamcclain Nope! but my income has been increasing over the years, and I'm financially stable. could be reaching that within 3 years at this rate. I personally know people who do make six figures and their patreon numbers are publicly visible
English

@ThingsSquishy @palomamcclain oh ,but do you make six figures with it ?
English

@palomamcclain why rely on one employer to pay your bills when the entire internet could buy your stuff? Global over Local is the ticket especially for art. But local is underrated as well depending on the city
English

@ThingsSquishy Pretty much the best time to pursue it at this point. If nothing is stable might as well do what we want!
English

@stuffybag @palomamcclain sure! It's very doable, not easy, look up "You Don’t Need a Job To Make Money" by Tom Scryleus, he gives a great realistic overview...
Ive seen it literally dozens of times even in art, industry pros quit and go independent because these new platforms make more money than jobs
English

@stuffybag @palomamcclain its a growing bubble, anyone can upload tutorials for anything on sites like gumroad/skillshare, etc. Social media monetization/prints, etc. and sometimes eclipse normal job income rates, you have a global reach now, its a reality we need to acknowledge going into the future
English

@ThingsSquishy @palomamcclain well I would like to live in the bubble you live in 😂
English

@stuffybag @palomamcclain not really, cheap affordable entertainment actually goes great in recessions. what slows down are larger budgets and purchases due to higher interest rates. Yes, large budget corpos take a hit from lower investments, but us smaller creators can still do great in recessions
English

@ThingsSquishy @palomamcclain in recession the first thing that goes is entertainment
English

@palomamcclain ironically our little self employed goofy art dreams are becoming the main form of doing this job... and is funny enough more stable than the entire modern job market
English

@palomamcclain look up "I Tried to Follow My Passion For Art but Now I'm 32 and Unemployed" on YT
She gives a very good overview of what the industry is kinda like now; its layoff HR hell... and yes a lot of people who are still in the industry kinda have stockholm syndrome over it
English

@palomamcclain @DancesWidLesbos of course many industry vets have wanted to go independent the whole time, you can just do that now, the only hard part is knowing who you want to be and what you want to say. You can have a great career and be a mediocre artist technically, but really funny or clever etc.
English

@palomamcclain @DancesWidLesbos The barrier is just different... its not necessarily higher. Industry vets come from a production style career where you deliver a product for a company to a certain quality. Now those seats are taken by people whove done it for a long time and you have to be better than them-
English

@palomamcclain @DancesWidLesbos to get that job. the good news is, when you draw what you want, theres more ways than ever to monetize work thats more personal and find an audience who genuinely shares your passion.. this is very different from drawing to meet a quota for a specific company.
English

@mangonectarchan Im gonna need some more mangoes with that ;)
English

@anonymous_rum Was a pleasure! mmm... a delicious finger lickin one ;)
