While difficult, these restrictions exist because #oregon wants to prevent harm to our treasured bat populations. The bat did not make it, but we appreciate the homeowner's concern, compassion and interest in the bat's welfare and understanding why we couldn't rescue the animal.

Common misconception: “COVID may have come from a bat in China, therefore all bats are bad." These restrictions exist bc little is known about this virus and potential for spread. North american bats are already extremely vulnerable and in decline. (2/3)
