"Compared with dogs they had better navigational skills, night vision, hearing, and sense of smell. In tests of endurance, HYBRIDS FINISHED THE ENTIRE 100-KILOMETRE ROUTE WITHOUT BEING EXHAUSTED ❗️😃 #MilanoCorina2026 #OLYMPICS Crossing a Carpathian grey wolf with a German Shepherd IN 1955 as a scientific experiment in the military kennels in Czechoslovakia, to create a breed that would have the temperament, pack mentality, and trainability of the German Shepherd and the strength, physical build and stamina of the Carpathian wolf" Puppies of the first generation resembled the wolf in appearance and behavior. Their upbringing was difficult; training was possible, but the results hardly matched the effort. In adulthood, they were again bred with German Shepherds, decreasing the proportion of wolf blood to 6.25% by the fourth generation. Most individuals of the third and fourth generations were able to attend a normal course and could be placed in service performance. Compared with dogs they had better navigational skills, night vision, hearing, and sense of smell. In tests of endurance, hybrids finished the entire 100-kilometre route without being exhausted. x.com/ThionRay/statu…

The wolfdog attending Olympics in Italy today The breed-in-foundation repeatedly refused recognition, and in the 1970s most breeding dogs were moved to the Slovak military kennels Malacky In 1982, the breed was again presented for recognition through the Club of Czechoslovakian Wolfdog Breeders and this time, it was recognized by the Czechoslovak breeders' associations as a national breed. The last addition of wolf blood took place in 1983. The breed were originally used as border patrol dogs but were later also used in search and rescue, Schutzhund sport, tracking, herding, agility, obedience, hunting, and drafting in Europe and the United States #Olympics2026 #Dog #Italy Czechoslovakian #Wolfdog

"Nuuk Greenland 1888. It was the survival skills Nansen learned during this Greenland winter that helped him survive the later bear-heavy winter on Franz Josef Land" 📸 1895 winter on Franz Josef Land, During his North Pole expedition with Hjalmar Johansen, the two men were forced to overwinter in a makeshift stone hut on Jackson Island. They survived for nine months almost entirely on a diet of polar bear meat and walrus x.com/ThionRay/statu…

@Dag_Torp Your bio suits you, if you delete the first word "nice". Read again what I wrote. READ. And THINK. And rather ask than being rude The entire article confirms everything I said. Been there myself * Never underestimate the charm of a decent vocabulary

“They shoot damn well — better than people who’ve been in the system for 20 years.” At what may be the most beautiful firing range in the Danish Realm, young Greenlanders are training in the core skill of a soldier: to kill. But the Arctic Basic Training program, which is set to receive a visit from King Frederik, has a broader purpose — to make Greenland more resilient. The program is now being expanded, giving more young people the opportunity to contribute to the defense of Greenland. Danny Danielsen is the son of a hunter and has taken down at least one polar bear. He is accustomed to the cold and knows how to handle a rifle — two skills that serve the 20-year-old recruit well where he stands now: at the firing range in Sandflugtsdalen valley, a half-hour drive from Kangerlussuaq. In the distance, the Greenland Ice Sheet rises beyond snow-covered mountain peaks. The students from the Arctic Basic Training program drove half an hour through the wilderness in a tourist bus from Albatros Travel to get there — a far more comfortable mode of transport than the march they recently completed: 36 kilometers to the edge of the ice sheet with 20 kilograms on their backs. —Jyllands-Posten

@joakial_ The fun thing about traditional bunads in Norway is that most of those that are actually made in Norway following traditional craft traditions are made by immigrant women supplementing their income since they are the ones with the skills and time to do it.

Kind of a funny tweet, considering neither the shirt nor the headband is traditional. Also, the company behind these dresses, which shouldn’t be confused with traditional Norwegian folk costumes (bunads), since those are regional and follow specific guidelines, has outsourced parts of its production overseas. That means fewer apprenticeships and less local expertise in Norway, which over time can weaken domestic craft traditions. Sort of the opposite of protecting Norwegian traditions, imo.

The skirt and vest are, but not the rest. Camilla Rossing, the chief of the Norwegian Institute for Bunad and Folk Costume; "LOOSES EFFECT AS CULTURAL HERITAGE; We would recommend that people wear their bunad as it has traditionally been worn, says Camilla Rossing. Camilla herself has a belt stack from East Telemark. There are national costumes where it has been a tradition to wear other types of shirts under the costume, the belt stack from Eastern Telemark is an example. But Rossing believes it may have spread to other areas where it is not common. The bunad becomes more personal, but it loses some of its impact as cultural heritage if everyone experiments with their bunad" nrk.no/rogaland/rekor…

It's the updated creative style and not really the Traditional one, shirt and headband like those are not included in the definition of "traditional" 📹 ⬇️ 🇳🇴 Here are other women in Norway doing similar artistic maneuver ☺️. Personally I think the last photos in this video clip are stunning and beautiful #outfits #Norway #Creative #Traditionaldress x.com/ThionRay/statu…
