On this day 30 years ago, Geoff Sprague's walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth lifted Florida State baseball past host Stanford and into the West Regional final, 5-4. J.D. Drew homered and finished with three RBIs in the win. On the mound, Randy Choate went the distance.

On this day 36 years ago, Florida State softball opened the Women's College World Series with a 1-0 win over Fresno State. Debbie DeJohn tossed a 3-hit shutout. Leslie Barton scored the game's only run on an error in the fifth. Penny Siqueiros made a stellar play to end the game.

On this day 41 years ago, Florida State baseball opened the NCAA Tournament with an 11-0 win over George Mason. Doug Little, Ray Revak and Pete Brown combined for the shutout. Bien Figueroa and Jimmy Jones each homered in the win. Figueroa scored four runs.

On this day 22 years ago, Veronica Wootson's walk-off single in the 12th sent Florida State softball to the Tallahassee Regional final, 5-4. FSU trailed 4-0 early. After scoring a run in the third, Wootson's 2-run single drew the Seminoles even during a 3-run sixth.

On this day 10 years ago, Florida State baseball salvaged the doubleheader split with Miami on Jackson Lueck's walk-off home run in the 10th inning, 3-2. Lueck scored two runs. Cal Raleigh added three hits and an RBI. Tyler Holton gave the Seminoles a quality start on the mound.

On this day 76 years ago, Florida State men's golf won the Dixie Conference title by an incredible 77 strokes over second-place Mercer. FSU's Sonny Tinney repeated as the Dixie individual winner. Dick Montney, Ted Hewitt and Joe Bassett also had strong showings for the Seminoles.

On this day 40 years ago, Paul Sorrento's 2-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth capped the regular season as Florida State baseball defeated LSU, 6-4. The Tigers had drawn even with a 2-run homer of their own in the top of the inning. Sorrento scored two runs.

On this day 35 years ago, Florida State baseball won a ninth straight Metro title with two 1-run wins. Kenny Felder homered twice in a 13-12 win over Cincinnati. Vs. South Carolina, FSU scored three runs in the ninth before Allen Bevis' walk-off homer won it in the 10th, 10-9.

On this day 45 years ago, Florida State baseball won a second straight Metro title wins over Tulane by 22-4 and 15-5 scores. Don DeLoach homered in both games. Mike Yastrzemski also homered in the first game. Mark Lacy, Rick Figueredo and Craig Ramsey each homered in the second.
