“Sex sells” Well, yes. Sex is appealing. A lot of people think about it. A lot of people want it. Crave it. But sex isn’t everything. My spicier things actually don’t do as well as my more wholesome or comforting content. So please don’t feel like you *have* dip your toes into NSFW territory if you don’t want to or it makes you uncomfortable, just because you think it’ll help you gain popularity. Please *do* explore it if it’s something you want to do. I’ll even hold your hand and we can explore together. Do *not* think you have some moral high ground if you’re not an NSFW creator or do not consume NSFW content. Do *not* think someone is only popular because they prey on lonely people or because they “sell sex.” [Never mind the fact I sometimes question if I’m just not *sexy* enough for my spicier things to do well 😂] Recognize that people are out here just doing what they want and what they enjoy, and for some, it happens to help them grow. Point is, there are trends and tropes and subjects that seem really popular or a fast lane to growth. But if it’s not something you genuinely want to do, you will get burnt out so fast. I love doing audios and writing characters and stories, and I still get burnt out because I think I’m going to be forgotten if I don’t do *enough* or faster. It sounds like a cop out, but it’s true—the right people will see your work, see who you are and what you stand for, and they will support *you.* So yes, sex sells. But what’s more important is that people attach themselves to authenticity and genuine joy in creation. So be authentic and create or do what genuinely brings you joy.
