The UTC, alongside other schools, were invited to the Thomas Telford School Dance Festival. This was an amazing opportunity for students from different schools to showcase their talents in a supportive environment rather than a competition.
We celebrated the inaugural Thomas Telford UTC World Book Day. Our Whole School Reading priority, ‘promoting reading for pleasure’, felt alive and palpable across the school; a day to remember for staff and students alike.
Our UTC Extra Badminton club enjoyed attending the Yonex All England Open Badminton Championships last week, watching the best badminton players from around the world!
Today during lunch time our catering company Catering Academy organised a Smoothie Bike and Salad Bar for our students.
The smoothie bike gave students the option of picking fresh fruit to add to a juice base and make a smoothie using the power of them cycling to blend it.
Y9 DT students have been learning how to use sustainable materials in the paper making process by recycling paper and turning it into new paper.
Following this practical lesson students will create a written piece of work to raise awareness of sustainable materials.
Year 7 student Nahid has created a fantastic painting for her Spanish project. Student's were asked to research about a cultural aspect of the language and to create a piece of work.
Nahid chose to research about a Spanish artist called Picasso.

The UTC has been a hive of employer activity this week with events such as Year 10 and 12 Employer Mentoring, Year 7 Guess my Job workshop and Year 10 interim presentation for their Employer projects with Lovell and Morgan Sindall. A huge thank you to all employers involved.
Year 7 students have been busy presenting their ideas for the development of the new house type 'The Springfield' as part of their employer project with St Modwen Homes. The feedback from Rachel and her team was fantastic and students can not wait till their final presentations.
Year 8 students are working on a roller coaster project, they are prototyping and bringing to life their design ideas. They will be working to strengthen teamwork skills and assessing how quickly a marble drops for a competition for the most successful and quickest roller coaster
Our KS3 students have risen to a inter-academy STEAM challenge to design a poster with the theme growth.
Not only did they win First Prize, but also 4th and 5th. The quality and creativity of the student responses was exemplary.
A huge thank you to motivational speaker, David Hyner who came in and spoke to Yr10 and 12 students. David was unique and spoke about goal-setting and purpose.
He brought lots of humour and enjoyment to the session, students were thoroughly engaged. @davidhyner

Staff and students have raised a huge £1500 through raffles, hot chocolates, 5K run and our culture day today for our new school defibrillator. Thank you to all of you who have supported the UTC.
