And for the first time in 25 years, places of worship will now have to pay 20% VAT on structural repairs and works. This will be a real burden on our ancient monuments where stonework is constantly having to be repaired like @LichfieldCath

"The sooner it's gone the better" That's what Cannock Labour think's about Art & Culture expressandstar.com/news/local-hub… Cannock Chase District Council Leader Cllr Thornley, at this weeks scrutiny meeting to on CCDC decision to Demolish Cannock's Prince of Wales Theatre said "The sooner it's gone the better" This tells you everything about the current leadership of Cannock Chase District Council. After 20,000 signed petition, months of campaigning and very peaceful & polite protests, ON TOP of a report from Theatre Trust, along with ignoring the plight from dozens of organisations from dance & play groups, to school & children's groups, they, totally ignored the people of Cannock and it's wider area. Their contempt for due process goes further. As deputy leader of Staffordshire County Council, I sat on the board of Cannock's Levelling Up Fund, and the town centre's regeneration. At the last meeting they OMMITTED to mention that CCDC had made a political choice to Demolish the Prince of Wales Theatre, I only found out a few days later when CCDC papers were released. and Yes I did complain and had this lack of cooperation problem raised with the Chief executive of CCDC. But it gets WORSE On top of ignoring the will and want from the people of Cannock, Cllr Thornley, leader of CCDC has now asked for YOUR Elections this May in CCDC area to be CANCELLED, 'well postposponed' Let me make this perfectly clear, this is NOT postponing an election for 1 year, it is an Extra 2 Years in office It is a CANCELLATION because this will be your LAST chance to vote in local elections under the current system. LGR, local government reorganisation, will begin next year Another enforced change YOU the Voters were not asked about. Unitary Authority elections will happen next year. Meaning an end to our current local government system. NO I do not know what area's your new UA Cllr will cover, nore do we know what shape, size or area Staffordshire Unitary Authorities will be, The Labour Government in Westminster decides that one for you. So, from 2027 to 2028 we will have our current local authorities, District/Borough & County Councils work along side a 'Shadow' Unitary Authority. Then in 2028 ALL District/Borough and County County Councils ABOLISHED, gone, no more, they will cease and desist. We will now be left with Unitary Authority divisions that Westminster deem fit to choose and then impose on you. For me to have such fundamental change should, MUST, have a public mandate on who manages and implements those changes. I am very, and I mean VERY CONCERNED on what games these undemocratic Labour Councils in both Cannock & Tamworth will play when it comes to restructuring how your local government acts for you. @reformparty_uk #Cannock #CannockChase #Staffordshire
