Joël Mouric on Aron's conception of Europe.

Otherwise, in French, the best intro to his thought is by @GChaton3k (easy to read, covers almost everything, up to date!)

@TiltingatM3 But I think historians are just bound to clash about any kind of sweeping claim about history! The debates in France about the emergence of feudalism never stopped, it is less straightforwardly political but no less violent.

@TiltingatM3 I don't think it really is a problem. We need different concepts to deal with different contexts and research questions and we end up using the same word for different concepts. Philosophers might bring some clarity to the debate (but recently they don't seem to).

The basic claim of the racial capitalism paradigm, as I understand it, is that preexisting ideas about ethnic differences in feudal europe were blown up, exacerbated, and reified into the concept of "race" by the emergence of capitalism. What is the objection to this claim?
