Last weekend was amazing in Cannes and hacking at @ETHGlobal. Also won Best WalletConnect Pay Use @WalletConnect bounty. I was trying to solve a problem that me and others have faced, which is refunds/chargebacks with crypto payments. Alongside @Gedi_minas, I built Unwind which fits into merchant's POS system that would allow to initiate a refund in case of a dispute. Crypto payments are immutable by default. If you're using stablecoins to pay, it acts as a push transaction and there is no pull mechanism which traditional cards/online merchants have. There is also no early liquidity access to merchants, and banks' T+2 settlement makes it worse for merchants. Unwind cares for consumers satisfaction and incentivizes merchant's liquidity for operations. We used @WalletConnect POS and integrated right into merchant's workflows. We are using Merchant Vault contract and route the money through vault to our Refund Protocol which initiates the state of the contract. The contract supports refunds during a lockup window, early merchant withdrawal via EIP-712 arbiter signatures, and payer reclaim after a grace period. Arbiter covered refunds can even create merchant debt which is an onchain debt-collateralized lending for small merchants who need early liquidity. We built the smart contract on top of @arc refund protocol and deployed it on @arc testnet alongside @base mainnet. Shoutout to Tomas & @lmeowhelena from @WalletConnect team for helping us & also fixing bugs real-time based on our feedback .
