2022 was one of the strangest years of my life. Fresh out of NYSC with no job and no money, I was squatting with a friend while my parents kept asking about my plans. I sent out CV after CV with no responses. It was exhausting.
Then Amaka, my senior from school who was now doing well, called and asked me to come to her office about a vacancy.
I went to see her. She looked stunning in her professional clothes. After a bit of small talk, she locked the door and sat on the edge of her desk.
She looked straight at me and said in a low voice:
“I Don’t do favors for free, baby.

Living together before marriage is the most overrated relationship advice of our generation.
You're not testing compatibility. You're slowly killing the magic, splitting Wi-Fi bills, and calling it love.
Couples who move in together first don't get more prepared for marriage they get desensitized to each other. By the time the wedding happens, half the romance is already gone, traded for laundry schedules and whose turn is it to do dishes.
If you need to live with someone before marrying them to know if it'll work, you already have your answer.
