Huge win! Government announces plans to open up the Land Registry. If delivered, will finally reveal more about who owns land in England and Wales. Read my blog post for more details & how you can write to the Minister to make sure this now happens: whoownsengland.org/2025/03/06/hug… 🧵

Alex is an old friend who was inspired by our show to create this work and we are excited to be giving the piece it's first 'official' showing. There has never been a more prudent time to be learning about how people have historically fought back against tyranny in all its forms

Here is the video of N York Moors being burned yesterday for the grouse shooting. For some reason it says “content not available” in the original post. Curious.

Lovely to see the grouse moors all ablaze above #Weirdale today. If this were the Amazon rainforest we’d all be up on arms. But this is for hobby shooting, so it’s really important and quite ok.

Head of National Sheep Association appointed to, errr, fix sheep overgrazing problem on Dartmoor. 🤦‍♂️ Ewe couldn’t make this up. 🐑 Meanwhile nature on Dartmoor continues to decline.

Disappointingly timid changes to capital gains tax, which will only raise £2.5bn. Equalising CGT with income tax could have raised £15bn Income from wealth should not be taxed less than income from work #Budget2024

It's utterly farcical that the leading lobbyist for sheep farming in the UK has been chosen to chair the Dartmoor Land Use Management Group. This has killed stone dead any credibility the group might have had in terms of setting the agenda for the future of nature on Dartmoor.

1. Best to read colonial history books other than Biggar's, which the last Royal Historical Society president compared to a 3rd class undergrad essay (reliance on discredited secondary sources, quoting out of context, misrepresenting sources, over-reliance on colonial records, overuse of journalistic articles). No need to weaponize history, just to study it with open minds, respecting the descendants of formerly colonised people. 2. During Britain's 4 colonial centuries, most people were denied the vote, so we weren't an advanced democracy at the time we supposedly introduced it 3. Britain also has a fine tradition of anti-colonial thought & action.

As the dust settles after yesterday's reforming #budget2024, it's time to look at what the reforms to Agricultural Property Relief (APR) from Inheritance Tax (IHT) actually mean, instead of the toys out of the pram reaction from a section of the farming community. A short 🧵 1/7
