Tension for the sake of tension is harmful to the end goal of moving fast with direction. Tension in the wrong spots at the wrong times create slow, inaccurate "BP Swings". Think 5 O'Clock hitters. We have to have tension in the right spots at the right times so we can move fast, with direction, & adjustability. Be a good hitter. Not a good swinger. @hossjobhitting All we do is grow 📈

How patient are you with your throwing arm? Tensing up and trying to throw earlier than you're supposed to will definitely kill your velocity. All we do is grow 📈

Your arm strength doesn’t matter if your exchange is slow. Solely focusing on the throw instead of the transfer will severely limit your ceiling.⁠ ⁠ Try working on the transfer during daily catch play. Build the muscle memory in a low-stress environment so it becomes second nature when a runner takes off. All we do is grow 📈

"Stay Back" might be the most well-meaning, but worst cue to give an athlete. Back foot release is often a non-teach, but sometimes we have to show an athlete they can "stay back" when completely baring weight on the front leg. Having them perform a back foot release drill can allow them to feel that, especially if they have a tendency to come forward, use their torso to rotate, get stuck on their backside. It's not about "shifting" forward as much as it is learning how it feels to rotate "behind". @hossjobhitting All we do is grow 📈

Purpose or guesswork? Why are you doing what you're doing? Stop throwing stuff at the wall and hoping it sticks. Every drill, every throw, and every rep should have a clear "why" behind it. If you can’t explain the purpose, you’re probably just wasting time. @hossjobhitting All we do is grow 📈

Instead of going upright, focus on maintaining your athletic posture throughout the move. When you pop up, you lose leverage and create too much separation between your hand and head. Trust your lower half by turning that back hip down and staying connected to the ground through the throw. All we do is grow 📈
