So, this client texted that she wanted a cake for her daughter… A simple cake. Nothing extravagant. The design was beautiful and I was looking forward to bringing the design to life, God,this woman stressed me.🤦🏽 She'd call and ask questions. “Will the cake stay fresh till evening?” “Can you make sure the colors are bright?” “Can you write exactly what I send?” She changed the inscription three times and even asked I deliver the cake in person just to ensure the cake gets to her safely.. I was already preparing my speech about last minute changes. Then she settled on “Happy 8th Birthday, My Angel” Finally.. I delivered the cake but when I got to her house I noticed there were no balloons, no decorations, no noise. Just family members dressed in white, everyone was literally wearing white.. I knew something was off. Turns out her daughter had passed away last year. 😔 they were only gathering this year to celebrate her memory.. The little girl loved cakes. Her mum didn't want a party. She just didn't want her daughter to be forgotten. I used to think some clients were just difficult… Until I delivered a cake that changed how I see people forever. Turns out it was never about the cake. 😔
