We need feminism because when I was in 3rd grade a boy threw sand in my eyes on the playground and the school nurse told me he had a crush on me. He never got in trouble. Later that year an older boy in the neighborhood pulled me into his dad’s car ,nd wouldn’t let me out until I kissed him. In 5th grade at the skating rink, a man over 50 asked my friend Katie to sit on his lap after watching us skate for several hours...
When I was 13 a line cook in his 30s demanded I give him my phone number. He got MORE persistent after my aunt told him I was only 13 and he watched me from the kitchen as I ate pancakes. Women have been objectified nd expected to deal with men’s behavior since childhood with no ramifications towards our offenders. Every woman has stories for sure ,similar to mine and likely worse.
