@Xenoraniumwolf@Rothmus Then what do you suggest? Most bigoted people are unable to be shifted from their points of view. Thats what has made it so hard for LGBT to move forward and why hate crimes like that happened to jonathan joss keep happening
@Xenoraniumwolf@Rothmus Because instead of “punishing” them, the better idea would be to let them wallow in their own insecurities as LGBT moves further 🤷
@TickleTripson@Rothmus You're not saying they're all homophobic, just the majority of them are.
So how exactly are you going to stop homophobia if you're not going to punish those who are?
@Xenoraniumwolf@Rothmus im not saying all christians are homophobic but most homophobic people tend to be christians. No i dont people sent in camps or areested
@TickleTripson@Rothmus Are all Christians are homophobic to you?
Do you want to arrest people for not holding the correct opinions?
Or throw all homophobes in reeducation camps?
@Xenoraniumwolf@Rothmus No im asking for people to at the BARE minimum, atleast tolerate LGBT and not have christian organizations put youth as risk with their “conversion camps” for money
@Xenoraniumwolf@Rothmus homophobia because i know how to spot and how ive went through it, THATS how i know what to call not hate i general, but hate againt LGBT
@Xenoraniumwolf@Rothmus Because ive experienced firsthand prejudice and hate for being a homesexual in the west for most of my life. Growing up in the southern part of the west ive been called fag, queer, and sissy. being gay has been a cross to bear everyday. I know what to call ho
@Xenoraniumwolf@Rothmus Yes it does. Conversion camps have been proven to lead to higher suicide rates in LGBT youth. I was sent to one right before i was kicked out of my home. it did me no good and only accelerated my self hatred issues
@Xenoraniumwolf@Rothmus there goes a saying “The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable man persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man”
@Xenoraniumwolf@Rothmus people who think otherwise, ARE part of the reason America is so unsafe for gay folks. whether they physically enforce their beliefs or not, bigotry can still stunt important progress for harmless minority groups
@Xenoraniumwolf@Rothmus protection means not allowing “conversion camps” to exist at all. its been proven to be harmful and ineffective and only provides money for christian organization. The ban was overturned with allows for conversion camps TO be opened
@TickleTripson@Rothmus The ruling didn't legalize "conversion camps". It was struck down because it was viewpoint discrimination, which is unconstitutional compelled speech.
Real protection for youth means open discussion, not gagging one side in favor for the other.
@Xenoraniumwolf@Rothmus being labeled as a bigot because people go out of their way TO be blatantly homophobic or bigoted and act like lgbt representation is the end of the world
@Xenoraniumwolf@Rothmus it does unless its a negative representation which is common. And the ideology of “celebrate or be a bigot” is something i dont see often. The idea of being labeled as a bigot is not because you didnt weep with joy because nobody asks for that. Its the idea of
@Xenoraniumwolf@Rothmus Youre right, but the US, in its CURRENT state, is not a good look for LGBT. Like i said, colorado overturned a ban on conversion camps which poses a risk for gay youth but provides profit for churches and christian organizations
@TickleTripson@Rothmus Living without any judgment from outsiders isn't realistic for anyone. Disagreement isn't "scrutiny" or danger; it's normal in a free society. Plenty of gay adults thrive here precisely because the US offers more liberty & opportunity than anywhere else.
@TickleTripson@Rothmus More representation won't solve family breakdowns or cultural clashes. Plenty of gay people thrive in the West without needing every institution to affirm every identity. Painting the most tolerant societies as uniquely hostile ignores how far we've come & where real dangers lie.
