@SUJUSHlDAE_ Depends. In homes its whatever. In public spaces, I think its a bit more to combat humidity since we do have dehumidifiers built in.

the "AC in europe vs US" thing is so weird to me bc i lived in wisconsin and they'd turn on the AC as soon as we went over 16°C so like... yeah it's unfortunate that a house built a century ago doesn't have AC but y'all do realize it's not normal to need AC in a midwest spring

I need people to start including humidity in this conversation about unbearable heat cuz temperature alone isn’t enough. it’s the combination of temperature AND humidity.
a humid 32°C can feel worse than a dry 39°.

@dameanonyme You know, I keep telling them to get Air con, even if they use it maybe for 1 month only. Then they yell at me and say its never that hot. I think they are delusional. I would buy Air con for anything over 24C . 🤣

Currently, I only need heating 3 weeks out of the year, guess what. I have a portable heating unit for those 3 weeks.

@TiildeVT @lunasnowgroupie Honestly about 1 week of the year where it gets that hot (scotland) so yeah blowing a monkey on a portable unit is probably extravagant and just opening front & back windows solves that mostly, maybe a fan if super hot.
Installing US style HVAC would be mental.

@Starlight0kcal @lunasnowgroupie I'm running an AC and a fan at the same time at 31C right now ( its set to turn on at 24C). My house is on Solar. Come at me again with a better argument.
I live in theHumid Miswest, SE US, and have lived in SW US AND TROPICAL SEA. I think I understand heat better.

@_midori_me_ @s1nkyourteeth I tell people this and they still like Nah dry heat is better and so on. Nah, dry heat, you dont realize till its almost too late you're about to pass out from heat exhaustion. When its humid ( but not wet bulb) you know you need to drink water the moment you sweat.

@s1nkyourteeth I lived most of my life in Southern California & a year in coastal southern Florida. I vastly preferred the wet heat to the intense drying heat of the desert. I already dehydrate easily so intense dryness where your lips crack & bleed is worse than soggy, heavy heat.
