@huskerford05 Great 👍 yes and it’s the @NFL which may have made it “bigger” to some, but as a broadcaster not in the same class imo. Many critics of sports media I believe would concur.

Sterling was the voice of the Islanders at the time.
He was unfailingly gracious and kind, a gent. RIP

John Sterling is as much a part of the fabric of the New York Yankees organization as any player. It was an honor to have him call every one of my games during my career and an absolute pleasure to get to know him on a personal basis. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed.

I’ll have some more thoughts on John Sterling a little later this afternoon but he’s certainly a broadcaster that left a huge mark in Gotham City. I didn’t know John as some others of his generation, but I did follow him as the TV voice of the @ATLHawks and on select @Braves games. He was one of a kind. 💜RIP🙏

Maybe one of the happiest days of my life. May 3, 2018, Luke was pronounced “cancer free.” 4 months of intense chemo and he was on the road to recovery. But it wasn’t meant to be, as the cancer returned a year later. But will never forget that happy day.

Wonderful human being, a great friend, and was a forever Christmas Card Colleague! Pretty sure a lotta friends of mine in March realized how different it was with him no longer with us. Greg was still working when he became ill. Sadly, we never really got to say goodbye but he truly was beloved.🙏💜RIP Gumby.
