What a fantastic guest Honora Donworth is on the Weatherbys segment of the @nickluck podcast today. In a really lovely interview Nick chats to her just days after a hugely impressive victory for Field of Gold in the Irish 2000 Guineas. The colt was bred by Honora and Bobby at their Roundhill Stud in Limerick. Honora explains how she and Bobby purchased Field of Gold’s grandam Princess Serena at Keeneland in 2003. What a broodmare she has been - the dam of five black-type earners and the ancestress of champion 2yo filly Rizeena. Naturally the family is still very active and include two offspring from the family in training with @TimDonworth94 in France. There’s also the chance to chat about another of Roundhill Stud’s graduates - Jacqueline Quest - who lost the 2010 1000 Guineas in the stewards’ room. Whilst the memory is still obviously raw ‘Saturday made up for it’ Honora says!
