I long to one day see James Gray's original cut of AD ASTRA that, at the very least, would not include that unfortunate voiceover narration. variety.com/2026/film/news…

@Brian_Tallerico Very happy to have seen THE DEVILS together.

@rilaws Celebrating my return from Cannes in the only fitting way possible: Sunday morning/afternoon double feature of GROGU and BOOSTERS. (Sorry not to see you at the festival, Richard.)

Here's the final @Screendaily Cannes Jury Grid. Maybe this year's Competition wasn't as strong as recent editions, but we did end up with four films averaging 3.1 stars or better (out of four), which is rare: screendaily.com/cannes-jury-gr…

Another Cannes is in the books. Here is my ranking of everything I saw at the festival, as well as some thoughts on a "down year" and what I'm predicting will win the Palme d'Or. timgrierson.blogspot.com/2026/05/cannes…

Twelve years ago, when Stephen Colbert was announced as David Letterman's replacement, I wrote a piece for @RollingStone about why he was the perfect pick. Sadly, I don't think Colbert ever fully lived up to that promise. For posterity, here’s my essay. rollingstone.com/culture/cultur…

Ira Sachs is why I go to the movies. Can't wait for his latest after these great Cannes reviews!
Tim Grierson@TimGrierson
THE MAN I LOVE: For a third straight film, Ira Sachs creates an atmosphere of electric immediacy that makes you think anything could happen at any moment. These people lived, loved, struggled and made art, and then they were gone. Sachs refuses to let them be forgotten. Stunning.

@martin7o2o @Screendaily The film is a co-production between France, Latvia and Germany, so those are the countries that could submit it. (But, definitely, if it wins the Palme d’Or, it’s automatically eligible.)
English

@TimGrierson @Screendaily Rooting for Minotaur specially since now the Palme Winner can go without a country not selecting it which could be likely for a russian language film.

The latest edition of @Screendaily's Cannes Jury Grid is now live. And we have a new film in second place. screendaily.com/cannes-jury-gr…
