Over $210 million in private investment is coming into Nova Scotia’s offshore, reviving the offshore oil and gas industry in our province.
That means more jobs, more opportunity, and more economic growth right here at home. It means taking control of our energy future and building a stronger, more self-reliant province.
We’re getting back in the game, and we’re just getting started. Onward we go!

Nova Scotia is back in the offshore oil and gas business with over $210 million in new private investment.
This means real exploration work, good jobs for Nova Scotians, and more opportunity right here at home. It also means growing our economy, strengthening our energy security, and investing more into the services people rely on.
Momentum is building and the world is taking notice.
Let's keep going.

Nova Scotia is back in the offshore oil and gas business. And this is not just talk. It is real investment in Nova Scotia’s offshore.
Inceptio Oil and Gas, led by Nova Scotian James Edens, has stepped forward with bids on two parcels in the latest call for bids. They believe in Nova Scotia. And they’re willing to invest more than $210 million.
Mr. Edens is a proven executive in the global oil and gas industry. When someone with that level of experience and access to capital chooses Nova Scotia, the world notices.
A bid is not just a number. It is a commitment to spend that amount of money exploring those parcels. It will be invested in seismic work and offshore exploration activity. It means more Nova Scotians working in oil and gas and fewer of them doing it while raising their families two weeks on, two weeks off.
All of this means hope for families. It can also lead to revenue for the government, which means more to invest in doctors and healthcare, teachers and schools, roads, rinks and communities.
Just as important, these bids were independently reviewed and vetted by the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Energy Regulator. That means they have gone through a credible, arm’s-length regulatory process and met the standard required to move forward.
We have worked hard to restore confidence in our offshore. We have pushed to put Nova Scotia back into the global energy conversation, and with today’s news we see that we are doing just that. Companies are noticing.
These are real results. And momentum is building.
Nova Scotia is on the path to becoming more self-sufficient, relying less on the United States for energy, and on transfer payments into our province.
Here is the truth: Before the world believes in Nova Scotia, Nova Scotians themselves have to believe in Nova Scotia. Mr. Edens has proven that he does.
We have been here before. The Sable Offshore Energy Project and Deep Panuke Offshore Gas Project helped generate billions in economic activity, billions in revenue to the Province, and thousands of jobs for Nova Scotians. This money paid for hospitals, roads, rural internet and the social services we depend on. We proved we can build, operate and responsibly manage offshore energy at scale.
That was not the peak. It was a preview.
Across our entire offshore margin, we believe there is the potential for 148 trillion cubic feet of natural gas and 49 billion barrels of oil. That is the scale of the opportunity in front of us, across a number of other parcels that are still or yet to come out for bid on the energy market. All of it is potentially good news for you, your family and your community.
We’ll continue working with industry to secure future bids. We’ll continue to promote our offshore wind and onshore natural gas resources. And we’ll continue to work hard to find new opportunities that strengthen our energy security, reliability, and economic benefits to Nova Scotians.

We’re continuing to see progress getting Nova Scotians connected to care.
As of April 1, 61,947 people are on the Need a Family Practice Registry — down 1,274 from last month.
There’s more work to do. But we’re heading in the right direction.

Today, we mark the National Day of Mourning.
We remember the workers in Nova Scotia and across Canada who lost their lives, were injured, or became ill on the job.
Every worker deserves to come home safe at the end of the day. That’s not optional it’s fundamental.
We honour those we’ve lost by continuing the work to make our workplaces safer for everyone.

Inside the new Acute Care Tower, nearly 28,000 pieces of equipment are coming together to support better care for Nova Scotians. From advanced imaging to robotic-assisted surgery, this is about giving our care teams the tools they need to deliver world-class care.
Modern facilities like this help us recruit and retain the best healthcare professionals, strengthen our system, and ensure Nova Scotians get the care they deserve, now and into the future. There's more work to do, but we will keep working to build up healthcare.

Today, we said goodbye to one of the most important people in our family’s lives. Vern.
I won the lottery when Vern became my mother-in-law. She was the most loving, caring and passionate person I knew. And she instilled all of those qualities in the love of my life.
She raised an incredible human in Carol, who shared a special bond with her Mom and her absence will leave a hole that can never be filled.
She was a proud grandmother, who loved Paget and Zachary more than anything. They are so fortunate to have had a grandmother who was so engaged in their daily lives, cheering them on every step of the way.
I will miss Vern every day. I will miss her smiling face. Her sharp tongue. Her massive hugs. And her chocolate cake.
You can rest easy now, Vern. Our family has a very special angel keeping an eye on us now.

Nova Scotia cannot stay so reliant on energy from the United States. Global uncertainty and volatile prices have made one thing clear: we need to produce more of our own energy, right here at home.
Part of that solution is beneath our feet and above our heads: natural gas and wind.
By developing our resources safely and responsibly, we can lower energy costs, create good jobs, grow our economy, and help pay for the services Nova Scotians rely on, like healthcare, education, roads, and housing.
Other provinces have shown natural resources can be developed responsibly. Nova Scotia can too. We can protect the beauty of our province and build a stronger, more secure future at the same time.

It’s fantastic to see businesses like Agropur investing in our province. Just yesterday, they announced an expansion of their Bedford facility: creating good, skilled-trades jobs and growing our dairy sector right here at home. Minister Greg Morrow was proud to help ensure this investment landed in Nova Scotia, where it belongs.
Agriculture is a key part of our economy, and always will be. By supporting our farmers and food producers, we’re building stronger communities and creating long-term opportunity across the province.
This is how we grow and create good jobs.

English

Our government continues to build record amounts of housing.
100 new public housing apartments will give more than 300 Nova Scotians a safe, affordable place to call home, with even more on the way as part of a plan to deliver 930 affordable homes.
We’re working with our federal partners, securing funding, and getting shovels in the ground because Nova Scotians need more affordable housing now, and we'll keep making it happen.

English

We need more skilled workers in Nova Scotia and that means making sure opportunity is open to everyone.
That’s why we’re launching a new African Nova Scotian Skilled Trades Strategy to help recruit, support and retain the next generation.
With mentorship, coaching and community partnerships, more young people will see a future for themselves in the trades and get the support to succeed.
This is about building careers, strengthening communities, and growing our workforce.
