Congestion pricing would cripple downtown D.C. washingtonpost.com/opinions/2026/…

To the GMail Product Manager in charge of the AI "style assist" purple underline feature: you should be ashamed of yourself. It's buggy, can't be disabled, but most importantly, it feels like it's choking my voice out of me. What does it do? It runs my text through an AI model and then... makes it more like the AI model. There's some model, trained to prefer a very particular style of written English, that is now being imposed on me, suggested as better, as an improvement. And it uses the same visual convention as an objective spelling or grammar check, in order to impose a subjective judgment about how I should write. I am so deeply offended and disgusted by this, I don't even know where to begin. I have a unique written voice that is the sum total of my life experiences, and now my email client is telling me to replace this with the ultra-generic AI voice? In fact, it's visually signaling that I am wrong and it is right. (Of course, it isn't.) The best part is that by making my email prose more generic, it becomes less likely to be read. Then it just seems like any other ChatGPT-generated message -- worthless, no sign of life. No intelligent, thinking, conscious being on the other side of the cable. I have nothing but disrespect for your work.

I asked Thune if he feels pressure to pass SAVE America Act mounting: “A lot of that is, it's in that kind of, you know, paid influencer ecosystem,” he said Adds there’s support among GOP Sens, but “the process & how do you ultimately try & get a result is still unclear to me”
