A China-led international research team has uncovered fossil tracks at Xuanhua in the city of Zhangjiakou in north China's Hebei Province, which were left at least 134 million years ago by what they believe to be one of the slowest meat-eating dinosaurs ever recorded. Made by a three-toed theropod dinosaur that moved at a pace of 0.28 meters per second (about 1 km per hour), these tracks suggest the creature either stopped intermittently or took an extremely slow walk, a stark contrast to the faster running speeds commonly associated with its kind, according to the study published in the Paleontological Journal.
