Under our fully funded Hospital Rescue Plan, the Gladstone Hospital expansion will deliver 51 beds and treatment spaces, including 40 inpatient beds, six dialysis chairs and five high-dependency beds, with completion expected in mid-2027.

We promised to deliver the hospital Gladstone needs, and now work has begun. Labor left parts of Gladstone Hospital unusable after a decade of decline. Now, the Crisafulli Government is restoring health services when you need and delivering easier access closer to home.

After Labor botched building projects across the state, including significantly underfunding projects in Central Queensland, we’re getting on with delivering health services closer to home.

Located on Level 5 of the hospital, the new Cardiology Inpatient Unit doubles capacity from six to 12 beds, with each of the six two-bed bays equipped with an ensuite to improve privacy and comfort for patients.

This is about ensuring the Rockhampton Hospital keeps pace with demand and delivers easier access to health services.

Queensland has already seen the biggest drop in ramping in a decade. After a decade of decline under Labor, the Hospital Rescue Plan is continuing to restore the health services Central Queenslanders rely on.

We’re doubling down on the Rockhampton Hospital Emergency Department. The Crisafulli Government is expanding the ED for the second time and delivering more treatment spaces and helping reduce ambulance ramping so patients can be seen sooner.

The Crisafulli Government has also expanded the hours of the Gladstone Nurse-led Walk-in Clinic to open seven days per week, with an almost $1 million funding injection, after the clinic was left underfunded by the former Labor Government.

The expansion will include provision to increase to 60 beds and treatment spaces to meet growing demand. There will also be an administration unit, staff areas, family lounges and a rehabilitation gym.

The modular hospital expansion, to be built as part of the Crisafulli Government’s fully-funded Hospital Rescue Plan, will ensure continued access to health services while upgrades are also underway to modernise other parts of the Gladstone Hospital.
