@caiobchi Yes, probably. Would be nice to hear from someone actually considering a S3 exit of some scale before putting in a bunch of work to do it, though.

In just 3.5 days, we've copied out just over 2.5 petabytes. Fully saturating a 100gbit link dedicated to the purpose. The whole operation is being orchestrated by a little Rails-based copying app called Nostos, which we've fed 384 cores to parallelize to the max.

The Great AWS S3 Exit is underway for Basecamp and HEY. Petabytes upon petabytes getting sucked out of the cloud and onto our own servers. We're pulling out data at an average pace of over 8GB/s!

But we need new tech to stabilize the grid, and make this transition possible. Moves towards a smart grid, and flexible energy prices. We need cheap and abundant storage. That’s the part for @WorldFund 👉🏼 Which companies (Seed, Series A, Series B) should we invest in?

What's next? To prevent a climate cries, we need to quickly move from 1 week on renewables… to 1 month… to year round running on renewables. Solar, wind and hydro electricity generation is already cheap, and it’s now ‘just’ about rolling it out.

It is possible. Portugal 🇵🇹 just did it 💪🏽 For almost a week, Portugal ran on renewables, showing that replacing dirty fossil fuels in our electricity system is possible- and also cheaper for the economy!

New study in @Nature by 220 scientists worldwide, finds: 🌎 Global forests have the potential to capture 226 GTns of additional carbon. 🌳 61% of this potential is in areas with existing forests, where they can recover to maturity. 🌱 The remaining 39% lies in regions in which forests have been removed or fragmented. "Although forests cannot be a substitute for emissions reductions, our results support the idea that the conservation, restoration and sustainable management of diverse forests offer valuable contributions to meeting global climate and biodiversity targets." nature.com/articles/s4158…

World Fund
World Fund@WorldFund·
At @WorldFund, we have always believed that science is the best tool to identify the technologies that could have the most impact on mitigating climate change. But, as climate financing continues to develop at pace, the scientific methods fall behind. We need more tools, metrics, and counsel on science-based investing to enable a successful climate tech boom. That's why we are very proud of @TUBerlin's paper that was just published in the journal Highlights of Science: Assessing the Climate Performance Potential of Start-ups: Insights and Guidance on Environmental Sustainability Assessment of Young Ventures They studied our methodology to put it into the scientific context of impact assessments and to develop it further. This means our methodology is not only grounded in science and scores great among all currently studied dimensions, but we also have actionable steps to improve on specific areas. This also means that from now on, "Climate Performance Potential" is a scientific terminology that will be able to be used looking forward. This is an essential step to staying close to the scientific community. Thank you to the co-authors of the paper Felice Diekel, Vanessa Bach and Matthias Finkbeiner, as well as Dr. Constanze Trautwein. Have a read! 👉🏼 bit.ly/3POMXjU #climateperformance #climatetech #research #ad
