This is the devastating impact the hospitals actions have had. The coroner ruled “neglect”, only the reverberations of his loss travel so much deeper. Watching our other children suffer his loss pains us to the core. The birth of a sibling should be a happy time, filled with love

On 20 March 2022 at 08:58 you silently came into this world. Today should be such a joyous day, celebrating your 4th birthday should be full of fun and laughter but instead it’s remembrance and heartache. Happy 4th Birthday my beautiful girl, I love you infinitely 🤍

@babylifeline Serious question: If a system focuses on ‘learning rather than blame’, what mechanism ensures accountability when harm is avoidable and repeated? Because multiple maternity inquiries suggest learning alone hasn’t been enough.

Idris developed jaundice shortly after birth. Despite reassurances, delays in care led to kernicterus brain damage and cerebral palsy. Our clinical negligence team helped his family secure the care and support he needs. Watch Idris’s story: youtube.com/watch?v=fwVmgz…

As mother to a severely harmed child, this deeply concerns me. Sure, it would be helpful not to have to battle for years for answers as to what went wrong and why my child was harmed, but it has long since become clear that the only way to get answers is through the courts...

@JamesTitcombe ...the direction, priorities, or conclusions of those investigations. If this is to be different, ‘working together’ has to mean more than contribution it has to mean influence. 2/2

@JamesTitcombe Working together is often promised, but rarely delivered in full particularly in how family voices are used within inquiries themselves. Families are often central in providing evidence, but far less involved in shaping...1/2

An important moment for maternity safety - and reassuring to see so many authentic & dedicated people are part of this. The biggest opportunity in many years to set maternity safety on a better path - we must work together to make sure it succeeds. 🙏 news.sky.com/story/taskforc…

I truly do hope this taskforce can lead to meaningful action right now to make maternity services safer and more equitable in real time. But equally important, is the need to look back and understand the true scale & causes of harm which is why a stat PI remains a necessity.

Give this a read... "“Fit To Grieve exists because many fathers carry grief in silence. The project shares reflections on grief, fatherhood after child loss and how exercise and physical activity can support mental wellbeing during bereavement." @fittogrieve" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">substack.com/@fittogrieve

@CMcKinnellMP And if fewer cases are pursued as a result, how does that improve accountability, uncover failings, or deliver answers to families rather than simply reducing the number of claims on paper? 5/

@CMcKinnellMP If this reform reduces claim values, as it logically would, what is the plan when firms begin declining complex maternity negligence cases because they are no longer financially viable to run? 4/
