Some Pokédex entries state that when Primeape’s rage peaks, it loses all awareness and can even die if it pushes too far and the anime gets uncomfortably close to showing that. In one episode, Ash’s Primeape works itself into such an extreme state during battle that it suddenly collapses and becomes completely unresponsive. Not a clean knockout. Not a dramatic finish. It just drops. It does recover, but for a moment, you’re watching a Pokémon push itself past its limit in a way the series almost never shows. For a franchise that usually resets everything after a battle, that’s a line it rarely even approaches. $POKEMON
