Based on Satoshi Nakamoto's publicly verifiable writings (emails, forum posts, the white paper, and pre-release source code), the first three distinct names Satoshi used for what we now call the Bitcoin blockchain are: Timestamp server First verifiable use: Bitcoin white paper (October 31, 2008), Section 3: "We propose a solution to the double-spending problem using a peer-to-peer distributed timestamp server..." - This is the earliest public description of Bitcoin's ledger. ____________________________ Timechain 🔥 First verifiable use: Pre-release Bitcoin source code shared with early reviewers (November 2008). Example comment: "...the block is added to the timechain." - The term appears multiple times in the November 2008 source code, predating Bitcoin's launch. ____________________________ Chain of blocks (or block chain as two words) Satoshi later referred to it descriptively as a chain of blocks or block chain (two separate words) in forum posts and later code. Notably, Satoshi did not use the modern single-word term "blockchain." That spelling became common in the Bitcoin community around 2010 after Bitcoin was already running. _____________________________ Many Bitcoiners prefer "timechain" because it highlights Bitcoin's fundamental innovation: an immutable, cryptographically ordered record of time. The chain's primary purpose is to establish a globally agreed, cryptographically secured ordering of monetary (peer-to-peer electronic cash) transactions over time. Satoshi's earliest explanation in the white paper also focused on timestamping rather than on blocks as the defining concept.

A BIG brief announcement⚡️ After much deliberation, we are proud to announce we are rebranding Bitcoin Art Magazine to Timechain, the Bitcoin art magazine. With a nod to Satoshi’s original description of the Bitcoin timechain, @TimechainArtMag stands as a unique, independent publication dedicated to archiving a curated selection of the physical bitcoin art being created by sovereign individuals worldwide, alongside art and culture writing by bitcoiners.  We could not have made it this far without all of your support and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We look forward to your continued support as we proceed together on the path toward freedom. Thank you for being on this journey with us. We appreciate you 🤝🏽

"Life Cycle" by @cryptograffiti Repurposed fiat and mixed media 4 in x 12 in (10 cm x 30.5 cm) "Life Cycle is a series of nine, unique pieces composed of currencies from countries which have experienced hyperinflation. The log represents a now worthless item when compared to the currencies' former state. However, sprouting from the log is a sign of life - the Bitcoin genesis address is seen on the leaf and represents a way of breaking the cycle. Fiat follows the same path as the materials from which it is derived - beginning as a seed of an idea spread across the land, but eventually returning to the soil whether as ashes burned for warmth in the Weimar Republic or composting on a roadside in Venezuela."

@TimechainArtMag You can't build what I describe as "a Bitcoin standard" without going above and beyond in every detail even when people say it doesn't matter.
