@luuv_us Thanks for engaging with these posts, Vinh. Means a lot.
English

@luuv_us Yeah, BuilderTrend for scheduling and job tracking. Saves hours every week. Once you start managing multiple crews, software becomes mandatory.

@TimmyWangler This is very true and valuable insight.
I am not a contractor, but I have been working with contractors for over 2 years as a sub for clean up & demolition.
I have witnessed what you described.
I assume you are using some construction management software.

Most contractors lose money because they don't know their numbers.
I track everything:
• Labor cost per square on roofing jobs
• Material waste percentage per project
• Average days to completion by job type
• Profit margin by service line
The jobs that FEEL profitable? Often aren't.
The ones you assume are low-margin? Sometimes your best.
Data > gut feeling. Every time.
What's one metric you wish you tracked better in your business?
English

@luuv_us Appreciate you reading these. Construction is one of the best proving grounds for real business skills.
English

@luuv_us Glad it landed. The shift from chasing any job to choosing the right ones is game-changing. Good luck with your next move.

@TimmyWangler Thanks for sharing valuable advice "getting better jobs".
I will apply this advice in my endeavor ahead.

Most contractors fail because they treat their business like a job.
You're not trading time for money. You're building an asset.
If you can't take a week off without everything falling apart, you don't own a business — you own a high-stress job that happens to pay you in invoices.
Build systems. Hire right. Train well. Then step back.

Monday morning truth:
The best time to fix your roof was last year.
The second best time is right now.
Spring in Chicagoland = inspection season. Ice dams, wind damage, freeze-thaw cycles — winter beat up your roof whether you noticed or not.
I've seen too many homeowners wait until water's dripping through the ceiling. By then you're not fixing shingles, you're replacing drywall.
Free inspections. Licensed roofer. No BS sales pitch.
Catch problems early = save thousands.

Sunday contractor truth:
Most people think success = working harder.
Real success = working ON your business, not IN it.
I spent years running jobs, managing crews, putting out fires. Made decent money. Zero freedom.
Now I'm building systems. Hiring PMs. Focusing on deals that move the needle — roofing sales, MEIKO commercial, rental acquisitions.
Time freedom > dollar freedom.
Build the machine. Let it run without you.
English

Margins matter more than revenue.
I used to chase every $50K residential remodel. Tons of work, thin margins, constant headaches.
Now? One $80K MEIKO commercial install = 2 months of residential profit in 3 days of work.
Same crew. Same tools. Better clients. Higher margins.
Don't confuse being busy with being profitable.

Real estate isn't a side hustle. It's a full-time commitment with part-time hours if you do it right.
Buy once, renovate once, collect rent forever. That's the model. Every property adds cash flow. Every property compounds your net worth.
Most people never start because they're waiting to "have enough." Enough never comes. Start small. Stack properties. Build the empire one door at a time.

@viberankdev Nice. Dev tool discovery is a real problem — there's so much noise out there. How are you handling curation? Algorithm or human-picked?
English

@TimmyWangler We're building viberank, a place to discover and rank the best new tech tools. Think Product Hunt but focused on dev tools and AI.
