Last week doctors participated in echocardiogram training provided by Menzies School of Health Research in Hospital Nacional Guido Valadares. Mana Sidonia - our RHD Nurse - also took part.

Last week we donated medical equipment to Hospital Nacional Guido Valadares, including 7 cardiac monitors, 12 core temperature monitors, a semi-defibrillator, surgical masks and children's dental packs. Thank you to our donors and partners for making this possible.

Happy new year! It is indeed happy as our four patients who received life-saving heart surgery in Australia in November and December 2022 are recovering well. We are very happy for Ricardo, Julio, Leyla, Maria and their families.

Artimisa is one of four Timorese patients who travelled to Sydney this year for heart surgery thanks to our supporters. She said, “Before, I couldn’t walk for even 500 metres. I don’t feel any more chest palpitation and sore breath now. I can walk as far as I want!”

Our Rheumatic Heart Disease Nurse & Maluk Timor were at Comoro Community Health Centre recently to deliver our penicillin program. The program gives monthly penicillin doses to patients with early symptoms of rheumatic heart disease to prevent their condition from getting worse.
