The problem with this, now clubs will know that's what their targets are and price accordingly. You can address multiple positions at once, it doesn't have to be a 3 year thing. By the time the defence is sorted, you'll be looking to replace the forwards you bought 3 years ago.

I honesty think people are misunderstanding this. They are not saying players need to be Utd fans and before we come knocking they want to join us. They are saying once we present our project and we convince the player, that player wants to join us. It’s not a hard concept.

@utdreport This is why you do your business quickly and efficiently before the market establishes itself. There were rumours of the Anderson fee before the window opened. If proper ground work was done a fee could have been agreed with West Ham or Bournemouth, now look.

One last tweet as I'm aware I'm ranting and lot's of people don't like negativity. Bit I feel like INEOS have been pretty naive thinking this 'we only want players desperate for United' strategy would work for another consecutive summer. Sure, it's a great precedent. It worked for Cunha, Mbeumo, Sesko and Lammens. But the modern footballer hasn't seen United at that elite level for 10+ years, and money is sadly just becoming a leading temptator for these guys. Players are not simply going to 'fall to their knees' for Manchester United in 2026. There has to be a level of convincing there else other top teams won't be afraid to swoop in and take them.

So let me get this straight… Because United struck gold with Cunha and Mbeumo ( both support the club ) they think players should bend over backwards to make United their priority, when this is a club that hasn’t consistently competed for years, has seen project after project torn up & restarted, and no longer offers the wages it once did.
