Seems like a good time for our Sovereign Lord, King Charles III, to dissolve parliament. Just saying.

We love our matushkas and babushkas, don't we folks. Or as @Kaleb_Atlanta would say: we love our priest-wives and elderly wise women with their heads covered.

@buckrebel I’ve seen folks ask ¿?s yrs after baptism that I know they were taught in Catechism; people benefiting from a podcast is not a poor review of their catechism. Catechism is designed to get someone ready to start the journey. Repetition is needed & the person is ready for more.

It breaks my heart to have people tell me they learned more from podcasts than from their catechism. I’m so happy there are resources out there but we are not first and foremost by any means. ☦️

@MrsHoboNickels Can you make it reversible? That way it’s austere but versatile. And you can say ‘I’m smiling on the inside’.

The thing I don’t get about these example plates is how they use the same image for 3 of the 4 types of vision.

@TimothyEGBarte1 What are the standards here? Are just talking about talking about or talking about talking about in an edifying and informative manner?

@sdrexlerESPM42 Do this parish again as the iconography around the side walls gets filled in. They are fire.

St. Mary of Egypt Serbian Orthodox Church in Kansas City, MO. Founded in 1987 by a group of Christians seeking to serve their neighbors and Christ, the parish was received into the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of New Gracanica and Mid-America in 2000.

google the definition for 'sandpit', you get 'intensive discussion forums where free thinking is encouraged' and 'shallow hole or box in the ground with sand in it where small children can play'. How do you get intensive discussions in shallow holes?

@Fr_JustinSD @Kaleb_Atlanta @byzantinetx First time I heard an ison machine in a parish, I thought someone was watching Star Wars somewhere in the building next door and assumed I was hearing the Darth Vader theme faintly.

@seraphim199 IOCS is a good option, esp if you want supervisors from different unis involved. Durham and St Andrews have great Orthodox clergy on staff (there are others too, but these are the first that come to mind). Depends on your proposed area of study, really. DM me if that’d help.

This fall, I'd like to apply again to doctoral programs in theology. I have an MA from Notre Dame (in Early Christian Studies) and a ThM from Duke (Theology). I don't want to do more than three years (since I'm starting a family and am not interested in putting them through more than that), so European programs might be best. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to go about this? I know the basics of the application process, but I need to find a set of schools that I really target. Don't know precisely what I'm asking for except some kind of informed help and advice here.

@satsyd_finsun We put up the tree on St Boniface (cuz ax, tree, etc), and then lights/decor on St Ignatius (cuz fire)… helps stave off the creep of jollification getting too much… but also reminds me we’re supposed to approach like a child.

@AaronM4lloy From the high period of the western Roman Empire, women’s veils would have traditionally been see through. This was the patrician norm, at least, the historical record is a bit more uncertain (in my understanding at least) of lower class women.

@Spotify should have the same 'I find this offensive' option like there's on d'Insta. At no point am I going to listen to motivational podcasts and if I wanted a dj-style voice-over introducing the next poorly chosen set of music 'for you', I would just go back to radio.

@robotforaday St John Maximovitch, while he was bishop of London, visited said establishment and then decided to leave somewhat abruptly, saying “there is no grace here.” So, yes, no. I agree with you entirely.
